AgenticKit vs a DIY Cursor setup

You can write five skills this weekend. That is a valid setup. Here is what you are signing up for if you keep going to 34/49/35 by hand.

What DIY gets right

A small always-on rule, a living CURSOR.md, and three commands you actually type will beat a kit you never open. If you only ship code this month, write project conventions yourself and stop.

What DIY costs at kit scale

  • Each skill needs a description that matches, or the agent never loads it.
  • Each agent needs a required-skill list or the role is a costume.
  • Each command needs a stop condition or /ship becomes “just finish it.”
  • Updates are you, copying from a gist, six months later.

What AgenticKit is

The same graph, packaged: 46 agents, 61 skills, 47 commands, npx agentickit-cursor init, lifetime updates. Engineering, marketing, or both. It is not a second IDE. It is files in your repo.

Frequently asked questions

  • Can I edit the files after install?
Yes. CURSOR.md is yours. Update refreshes kit files and keeps your product truth.
  • Is this official Cursor?
No. Independent kit. Cursor is a trademark of its owners.

Install the graph, or copy five files

The install docs drop the kit. The blog is the pattern if you want to stay independent.
